The Founder's Cinema

The Original Seven-Seat Torii Garden Cinema - Bedfordshire

The Founder's Cinema is the project that started the Torii journey - a bespoke seven-seat cinema created to bring the atmosphere and experience of a dedicated picture house into the garden.

Rather than adapting a conventional garden room, the building was designed around its purpose from the beginning. The layout, tiered seating, screen position, lighting, interior finishes and cinema technology were considered together to create an immersive experience within a relatively compact footprint.

More than simply a personal project, the cinema established many of the principles that continue to define Torii Garden Cinemas: thoughtful use of space, individual design, meticulous attention to detail and the belief that a private cinema should feel like somewhere genuinely special to visit.
